A blue coating shown above is applied to the aluminum sheet about\u00a01\u03bcm thick.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial; font-size: x-large;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">Here are some of the coatings that are applied.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><b>Silver Halide (printing runs 0-3000 copies).\u00a0<\/b>This is a photosensitive material, similar to that which used to be used in photographic film.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><b>Diazo (printing runs 0-250,000 copies)\u00a0<\/b>This is an organic compound.\u00a0 It provides a durable image that is the most popular today, especially for sheetfed printing presses.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><b>Photopolymer (0-1,000,000 copies)<\/b>\u00a0This coating has more durability.\u00a0 It can withstand more and hence will wear much slower.\u00a0 Longer run offset printing presses will use this for magazines and newspapers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><b>Silicone.<\/b>\u00a0 This is for what is called &#8220;waterless printing&#8221;.\u00a0 The silicone is such that it can repel ink and allow ink to contact anywhere without the coating. These areas of the plate have special properties that attract ink.\u00a0 In other words, they are oleophilic.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial; font-size: x-large;\"><b>Step 3.
